The Sonoran Belt Knife is 6 3/4 inches in overall length with a blade of 2 1/2 inches. With a height (from edge to spine) of 9/16 of an inch the pointy blade is perfect for ear marking, castration and daily use. The blade is flat ground from 26C3 high carbon steel. This knife has been cryo quenched for additional toughness and edge holding ability and Rockwell tests at 64 RC. This steel has been clay coated and differentially heat treated to produce a working hamon (the line of demarcation on the blade). The brass bolster with mosaic pins prevents the hand from slipping down onto the blade. The handle is made from Ironwood, with a Buckeye spacer and has a mosaic pin. This knife comes with a border stamp, horizontal sheath in roughout for right hand wear. If you choose to order an additional sheath, you will receive BOTH sheaths. The one that is built already, and the additional one we will build for you.
The Slotted Sheath is an ideal sheath for riding. It is designed to be carried in the front in a cross draw fashion, whether your right handed or left handed. The sheath may also be worn behind the hip. The great advantage to this sheath, is that it can be worn 360 degrees on the belt. The Slotted sheath is worn under the belt for added security and comfort. This sheath cannot be tooled. All Horsewright sheaths are done in an Oil Tan finish.
The Horizontal Sheath was designed for comfortable, secure, all day carry. You will forget that you have this sheath/knife on your belt, until it's needed. It is designed primarily for cross draw carry, however it can also be worn on or behind the hip. This sheath cannot be tooled. All Horsewright sheaths are done in an Oil Tan finish.
