The Elk Guide is 8 5/8 inches in overall length, with a blade length of 4 1/4 inches. The Elk guide is a hunting/skinning knife developed with the input of two professional hunting guides. They had strong preferences for size, shape and steel. The resulting knife has worked extremely well in the field. This knife is flat ground from AEB-L stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 63RC. The steel is satin finished and has been cryo quenched for additional toughness and edge holding ability. This knife is handled in Black Walnut. A brass bolster separates the blade from the handle. Loveless bolts have been added. This knife comes with a Slotted sheath, for universal carry. If you choose to order an additional sheath, you will receive BOTH sheaths. The one that is built already, and the additional one we will build for you.
The Slotted Sheath is an ideal sheath for riding. It is designed to be carried in the front in a cross draw fashion, whether your right handed or left handed. The sheath may also be worn behind the hip. The great advantage to this sheath, is that it can be worn 360 degrees on the belt. The Slotted sheath is worn under the belt for added security and comfort. This sheath cannot be tooled. All Horsewright sheaths are done in an Oil Tan finish.
The Pancake Sheath is designed to be carried in the front, on the hip, or in the small of the back ("SOB"Style). All Horsewright sheaths are done in an Oil Tan finish. The Pancake sheath can be tooled with your initials or brand.
